Henry's father, George Zimmerly, had come to the United States in 1836 and married Henry's mother in Pittsburgh in 1839, but had moved to Harrison County, IN by 1845.  Henry was their sixth child and he was born in 1851, probably in Harrison County, IN. (1)  When Henry was about 10 years old they moved to Richland Co., IL where he married Irena Harbaugh on 17 Dec 1874. (2) He was 23 years old. He was a cigar maker and apparently after they married they went to live in Evansville, IN. They had their first child, Laura, in Evansville on 31 Jul 1875. (3)   But their other two children were apparently born in Olney.  In the 1880 census Henry was a listed as a cigar maker living on Cherry Street in Olney. (4)
By 1883 there were back in Evansville. (5)  Henry was in the City Directory for Evansville from 1883 through 1886.  However, he had died in 1885 at the age of 34 leaving Irena with three young children. (6)  Irena had come from a family where her parents and most of her father's siblings died of consumption.  Henry Zimmerly died of TB and Irena was sick with TB for the next few years.  She moved back to Olney with her young children and died there 8 years later in 1893.
