  • Lived and died on the same homestead farm where he was born. He bought this land from his brother Jonathan and, in turn, deeded it to his three sons. Here he built a house and erected the first gristmill in that section of the country. His mill, which was one of the three places where all warnings were to be posted, was situated one mile south of his father's first house. He was one of the leading men fo N. Groton during the first half of the 1700s. He held various town offices and was Warden of the Episcopal Church, Poquetanuck.
  • His will was dated on 30 August 1742 Robert Geer of Groton in the County of New London... Names his eldest son Robert Geer; second son Ebenezer Geer; son James Geer; daughter Mary; youngest daughter Martha; 20 shillings for the church wardens of the Church in North Groton. Eldest son Robert Geer appointed executor. Witnesses: Humphrey Avery, Benjamin Giles, William Spicer (mark).6

  • He served during at the Civil War. With the 126th Regt., NY Infantry, Co. K, enlisting 7 Aug 1862 at Canandaigua, wounded in action at Po River, 10 May 1864.7
  • He appeared on the census on 8 June 1880 at Elmira, Chemung Co., New York, age 53, born in Wurttemburg, a tailor, with him are his wife, Louisa, and daughters Lizzie, Rosa and Louise.8
  • He appeared on the census on 12 June 1900 at Elmira, Chemung Co., New York, as Frederick Geiger, age 73, born in Germany, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1853, employed as a tailor, with wife Louisa (married for 30 years), and children, Elizabeth, Rosa, Louisa, Katherine, Fred, and Lena.3
  • He was living in November 1907 at Elmira, Chemung Co., New York.9
  • Frederick Geiger outlived his first wife, Elizabeth Beeman by 42 years. He went on to remarry and relocate to Elmira, New York where he worked as a tailor and, with his second wife, Louisa, had at least six children. Of the children from his first marriage, William seems to have remained in Canandaigua where he died in 1907. According to William's obituary, his sister, presumably Jane Elizabeth, was living in Anaconda, Montana in 1907. Nothing more has been discovered with regards to Charles Reuben.
