Frances Hills1

F, b. between 1607 and 1615, d. after November 1680
  • Frances Hills was born between 1607 and 1615 at England.
  • She married John Brownson, son of Roger Brownson and Mary Underwood, at Halstead, Essex, England, on 19 November 1626.1
  • Frances Hills died after November 1680.
  • Her baptism has not been found in the Parish registers of Halstead. She may be a daughter of either Anthony or William Hills of Halstead, or may be related to them in some other way. She is not named in any New England records, so the possibility remains that she died, and the children born in Connecticut are those of a second wife. The youngest son Abraham, however, did name one of his daughters Frances, probably in her honor, as Frances is not a Puritan name and was otherwise not in favor in Puritan New England at the time. The widow of John Brownson survived her husband, and her death is not recorded in the Farmington records.
