Lucinda Palmer1

F, b. between 1770 and 1775, d. between 1830 and 1840
  • Lucinda Palmer was born between 1770 and 1775 (based upon birth dates of children, and aged 45+ in 1820).
  • She married Abel Beeman Jr., son of Abel Beeman and Mary Keeney, at Warren, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, in 1792.2
  • Lucinda Palmer possibly died between 1830 and 1840 at Ontario Co., New York, Lucinda is found on the 1820 census with her husband Abel Beeman. In 1830 she may be the female aged 60-70 years who is recorded with her son Reuben Beeman in Bristol, Ontario Co., New York.
  • The parents and ancestry of Lucinda Palmer have not been discovered. A possibility is Thomas Palmer who married Mary Palmer in Kent, Connecticut in 1770. Thomas and Mary Palmer were 3rd cousins, both descended from Walter Palmer, immigrant ancestor, of Charlestown and Rehoboth, Mass. and Stonington, Conn. Thomas and Mary had three known daughters: Mary (b.1771), Jemima (b.1773), and Abigail (b.1776). Thomas Palmer died in 1776, but there is certainly room for another daughter in the years between 1772 and 1776, the same time frame in which Lucinda would have been born. There were many Palmer families in colonial New England and there were other Palmer families in Kent and the nieghboring towns at this time. Some of these families descended from Walter Palmer, others did not. More evidence needs to be found before Lucinda can be placed in any family. As there appears to be no birth record for her, probate records of the various Palmers (particularly Thomas and Mary) may mention Lucinda by name. If it is found that Lucinda is a daughter of Thomas and Mary Palmer, her ancestry would also include the family names Denison, Stanton, Billings, Griswold, and Comstock, five of the principal families of 17th century New London County, Connecticut.
Another possibilty is the family of Ezekiel Palmer (1744-1815) and Margaret Peck who had children born in Kent or Warren, Connecticut between 1767 and 1787. Ezekiel died in Spencer, Tioga Co., New York where he had gone to live with his youngest son, Urban Palmer.
