• Jacob Brower. Of New Jersey. A farmer, Brower owned eighty-nine acres. He served from 1777 to 1783, was a prisoner for six months, and settled at Digby, Nova Scotia after the Peace. Brower estimated his loss at £100.³
• In "possibly" 1782, Jacob Brower was among a large number of Loyalists from New York City who signed a Memorial addressed to Sir Guy Carleton asking for redress from the losses they suffered as Loyalists to the Crown during the American Revolution, and on action for grants of land promised them but not yet received.⁴
• Christian Brewer and Jacob Brewer are found on the muster roll of Discharged Officers and Disbanded Soldiers and Loyalists at the town of Digby, Nova Scotia, dated 29 May 1784. Christian had a family of four (1 man, 1 woman, 2 children above 10), while Jacob a family of one man.^5,6
• A Jacob Brower (or Brewer), Loyalist is found on the Muster Roll of Disbanded Officers, Discharged Soldiers and Loyalists, in Annapolis County, taken between June 18th and 29th, 1784. Jacob is listed with one man and one woman, being at Annapolis. Christian Brewer is not on this list, and it is not certain if there were two Jacob Brewers, or just the one.⁷
• In his memorial of 1786, Jacob Brower of Digby, Nova Scotia states that he served in the Army for six years from 1777. He was a volunteer up North River and at sea, was taken prisoner and exchanged. He served at the destruction of the rebel fleet at Penobscot and the Battle of Blockhouse on North River. He remained at Bergen Point opposite Staten Island until the peace and then came with his family to Nova Scotia. Claim for improvements on 89 acres leased for 21 years of which three years only had expired. For evidence the depositions, 14 January 1786, Annapolis County (N.S.) of John Miller and Archibald McCurdy who state that they knew the claimant at the engagement at Blockhouse on North River and that the facts stated are true. Jacob signed with his mark. Claim was rejected.⁸
• Jacob settled at Sandy Cove in the township of Digby, where he and other Loyalists had been promised grants of land by Amos Botsford. In 1788 he and others petitioned for grants to their lands, which Botsford was refusing. This is probably the same petition that is referred to above, dated "possibly" 1782 when it first appeared in the NYGBR.⁹
• In 1787 Jacob Brewer was granted 100 acres in Sandy Cove, Nova Scotia. In 1796 he was granted a town lot in Digby, followed by a water lot in 1800. In 1801 he was granted 100 acres in Digby Township.¹⁰
