  • William Buys died on 26 August 1862.3
  • William Buys was in the District of Newcastle, Upper Canada on 16 Jul 1819, when applied for land for his father's service. There was a quetsion as to who his father really was, and he agian applied on 28 Jun 1826 and Peter Van Camp testified for him. He was an assessor in Darlington Twp. for the 23 Mar 1824 census. The listing for his family included a male age 86 and a female age 78, most likely his parents. The age of 86 raises the question that his father was the son of Matthew Buys and not of Johannes, but other evidence point to Johannes Buys as his father (Settlers of the Beekman Patent, v.3, p.102).3
