Allison, Princeton and Miss Grace Brewer of the home; two sons, William H. Brewer, Aurora, Ill. and Ross E. Brewer, Lane; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Mrs. Ora L. Farren of Osawatomie and Mrs. Elsie Saltzman of Greeley are half sisters, Mrs. S. M. Brewer of Greeley, his stepmother. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopel church and of the Lane Granges.

  • She married Edward Lewis, son of Edward Lewis and Sarah Morris, at "Battle Hill", now Madison, Morris Co., New Jersey, on 9 December 1781.1

  • On 15 August 1836 an application was executed for Nancy Lewis, widow of Edward Lewis who died 27 May 1817, for a pension based upon her husband's service during the Revolutionary War.
    The application states that Edward Lewis was born 10 May 1750 in Basking Ridge, Somerset County, New Jersey and lived there with his father before the beginning of the Revolutionary War. The name of his mother was not given, nor was the birth date of his father. Edward Lewis entered service sometime late in 1776, as Assistant Commissary of Issues for New Jersey in the Brigade commanded by General Conway. He served until 1783. He was at the battle of Springfield in 1780, and was in another large battle in Virginia "at the end of the war." He was also involved in many skirmishes on the New Jersey shore.
    On 9 Dec 1781 he married Nancy Crowell. The names of her parents are not stated. She remained at home with her father that winter, and in June 1782, went to live in the home of her husband'd father, Edward Lewis, Senior, in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Nancy was born 1 Nov 1757, place not stated. She was allowed a pension based upon the account of her husband's service and died 29 March 1838.
    Reference is made to seven children, but the only name given is that of their youngest child Edward M. Lewis, born April 1797. After the death of Edward Lewis in 1817, Nancy Lewis moved from the homestead in Basking Ridge to a farm in the neighborhood, and lived their with her son, Edward M. Lewis. She was living there in 1836.
    Judge Conger of Morris County, New Jersey was stated to be a son-in-law of Edward Lewis, but the name of his wife is not given.
    William L. Dayton, Edward Lewis's grandson. lived in Freehold, New Jersey, at the time Nancy Lewis made her application. In 1848, William L. Dayton was a U.S. Senator from New Jersey.
    In 1836, Henry Southard, aged 89 years, resided in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He married the sister of Edward Lewis, the officer, and lived in the same house in Basking Ridge when Edward and Nancy came there in 1782.2

  • Rev. Adam Crownse was born on 2 February 1797 at Sharon, Schoharie Co., New York.1
  • He was baptized on 12 February 1797 at Reformed Church, Rhinebeck, Dutchess Co., New York, sponsors Adam Hilten and Annatie his wife.1
  • He died on 13 May 1865 at Guilderland, Albany Co., New York.2
  • Paster of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Berne, New York, 11 Aug. 1827 until 4 May 1846 (serving Guilderland, Berne, and Knox). He entered Hartwick Seminary in 1820 where he received his classical and theological education. Ordained in 1824 and served at New Rhinebeck and Sharon, New York. In 1846 he became pastor of the congregations of Middleburg and Broeckabeen. He returned to Guilderland and Knox in 1849, and resigned from Knox in 1862. He preached his last sermon at Guilderland on 1 May 1864.3
