He went on to acquire much land in Harlem, and in Westchester County at Fordham and Morrisania. In 1718 he purchased 200 acres in the East Division at New Rochelle, from his daughter Leah Gendron who was then a widow. In 1719 he purchased an adjoining 100 acres from Susanna Coutant. The farms were soon occupied by his son, Abel De Veaux.¹²
