- He married Louisa Vanderpoel, daughter of Jacob Vanderpoel and Julia, (no children).2
- Possible son, he may also be a son of one of his father's brothers, either David, Elly, or Solomon. What should be noted however, is that the name Edward is entirely absent from the Demarest family with the exception of this Edward. Elsje Earle's father was named Edward, and the continuation of this given name through her son is an argument in favor of his placement here.2

b. 1725 or 1728, d. before 1777
- Father*: Jan Demarest1 b. 11 May 1701
- Elizabeth Demarest was born in 1725 or 1728 at New Castle Co., Delaware.3,4
- She married John Browning, son of Francis Browning and Elizabeth Lloyd, at probably Culpeper Co., Virginia, circa 1751.5
- Elizabeth Demarest died before 1777 at Caswell Co., North Carolina.6
- Elizabeth is more likely a daughter of Jan Demarest by a yet unidentified first wife. Her birth date, claimed as 1725 by one source and 1728 by another, would be too early for her to be a daughter of her father's wife Elsie Earle, who was married in 1729 to George Simmons, and had a son David baptized in June 1729.
- Some early account of the family of John Browning and Elizabeth Demarest include children George, Eunice and Daniel, all of which have not been accounted for in any records regarding the family, nor in later accounts of the family.

b. 11 May 1701
- Father*: John Demarest1 b. 18 Jun 1671, d. bt 1726 - 1731
- Mother*: Deborah Heyet d. bt 1705 - 1708
- Jan Demarest was baptized on 11 May 1701 at Dutch Reformed Church, Hackensack, Bergen Co., New Jersey, sponsors David, son of Jan Demaree, Rebecca Eyyet (Hyer).2
- He probably married second Elsie Earle after 1730 this according to the Demarest Family (1964). This marriage would have had to have been after 1730 (and may have been as late as the 1740's), and if so, it is probable that Elsie is NOT the mother of Jan Demarest's daughter Elizabeth Demarest, who is said to have been born in ca. 1725 or 1728.3
- On 4 March 1727, John Desmarest and David Desmarest, both of St. George's Creek, yeoman, convey to Francis Land of Christianna Creek, yeoman, for £62.18, a tract of land on the south side of St. George's Creek bounded by the land of John Bolton, land of Col. French and St. George's Creek containing 318 acres. Signed John Desmarest and David Desmarest. Delivered in the presence of John Hill and William Pellison. Recorded 1 June 1728. (H1:254).4
- John is last recorded in 1737 in deed papers at St. Georges Hundred, New Castle Co., Delaware. The Demarest name disapears from this location after this date and he probably moved elsewhere thereafter. The child Elizabeth is undoubtedly his daughter. Also he may have had other children.5
- If the approximate year of birth for his daughter, Elizabeth, is correct (1725-1728) then it would imply that Jan Demarest was married prior to his marriage to Elsie Earle. As Elsie was married to George Simmons in 1729, and Jan was living in 1737, it would appear that Jan was Elsie's second husband, and , as his daughter was born prior to 1729, Elsie must have been Jan's second wife.
