- Dirck Jansz (Croon), from Amsterdam, was a carpenter by trade and, apparently in 1650, built with Harmen Bastiaensz a house in Beverwijck, which was transferred to his name Jan 25, 1652, on condition that he enter into a contract with the authorities of the colony (Rensselaerwijck) and pay the patroon's dues. He is entered in the accounts as Dirck jansz timmerman, but is well identified with Dirck Jansz Croon, from Amsterdam, who in 1655 became one of the magistrates of Beverwijck.5
