- Dirck Ammerman (or Amerman) took the oath of allegiance in Kings Co. in Sep. 1687, then living in Flatlands. He stated that he had been in this country for 37 years, implying that he came to New Netherlands in 1650. He and his wife, Aeltie Van der Beek were members of the Flatlands Dutch Church in 1677. He was a deacon at the Flatlands Church in 1682, and an elder in 1703. He was on the assesment rolls at Flatlands in 1693 and recorded on the census in 1698. He served as an Ensign in the Flatlands militia in 1689, and was a Captian in 1690. Baptism records exist for only four of his ten children.7,5

- Paulus is named in his father's Sep. 1709 will as his eldest son. He was a member of the Flatbush Church in 1699. He was apparently living in Gravesend in 1700 when he sold land there to Cors Van Cleef. On 7 Aug 1714, John Emans of Gravesend mentions his daughter, Cornelia Ammerman in his will. Johannes Emans, eldest son of John Emans, in his will dated 21 Feb 1723/24, mentions, "my loving brother Paulus Amerman." Paulus Amerman is supposed to have settled in Monmouth County, New Jersey.1
