In connection with her signature in the book is the date January 17, 1813, which it would appear is the date the Bible came into her possession. A great many births, marriages, and deaths are recorded in the appropriate spaces provided for these entries. The book came into the possession of her son, William P. Emery, at her death and remained in his possession until his death in 1888, when it descended to his younger sister, Mary Ann Johnson, of White House, N. J. After her death in 1912, it was owned by Mrs. Johnson's grand-daughter, Louise David Dempsey, until the summer of 1913, when it was given to F. E. Pierce of South Orange, N. J. In his letter to Rev. N. Dunham Van Syckle, dated January, 1915, Mr. Pierce forwarded the information contained in the Bible, and these records are now contained in the Van Syckle papers in the New Jersey Historical Society library at Newark, N. J."3
