  • He was named in his father's will dated on 1 June 1756.1
  • He was found on the tax list at Newton, Sussex Co., New Jersey, in 1774.7
  • He was found on the tax list at Lebanon, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, in 1780 as William Hemry with 50 acres of land and a grist mill. By 1784 he had acquired 184 acres and was the assessor of the township. He is not found on the tax lists at Lebanon, New Jersey after 1784.3
  • On 25 February 1782 "William Hemry of the Township of Lebanon and Hannah, his wife, sold three parcels of land in Lebanon Township, totalling 48 acres, to Robert Kennedy of Greenwich Township, Sussex Co., New Jersey, for £500 in gold and silver and £300 in continental currency. It was land that William Hemry had purchased on April 26, 1779, from Andrew Bray. The deed was signed William Hemry and Hannah Hemry."3
  • He appeared on the census in 1790 at Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, with a household of 3 males under 16, 1 male over 14 and 4 females.6
  • He appeared on the census in 1800 at West Buffalo, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, with a household of 1 male 10-15, 1 male 16-25, 1 male over 45, 3 females under 10, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 26-44. Enumerated between Jacob Emry and William Emry (both of who are younger).5
  • He appeared on the census in 1810 at Chillisquaque, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, with a household of 1 male 16-25, 1 male over 45, 2 females 10-15, 1 female 16-25, 1 female over 45.8
  • He appeared on the census in 1820 at Chillisquaque, Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, with a household of 1 male over 45 and 1 female over 45.9
  • His will was dated on 14 February 1826 William Emiry of Chillisquaqua township, Northumberland County. To wife, Hannah Emry, one half use of the annual income of my farm in Chillisquaqua together with room in my dwelling house during the time that she is my widow. Mentions the use of personal estate to his wife. After her decease the executors are to dispose of the real estate and personal effects. Estate to be divided equally among his children, named as Mercy Jordan, John Emry, Peter Emry, Mary Irwin, William Emry, Hannah Kremer, Ann Gillispy, and Elizabeth Fetzer. My son-in-law James Jordan being indebted to me for ten dollars for what I sold to him in the year 1783 and also for thirty two dollars for one years rent of a farm situate on Rapid Run due April 1st 1785, I direct my executors to deduct the above charges. Daughter Mercy to be given eighteen dollars in lieu of a saddle and certain umbrella given to her sisters. Appoints son Peter Emry of Columbia County, and Charles Gale of Chillisquaque township executors. Witnesses William Reed and Joseph Shannon. Proved 13 Oct 1826.4
  • William Emery is covered by Frederic B. Emery in Conrad Emery and his Descendants (1970), on page 235. His account of William is very brief when compared to those of William's brothers. It is apparent that Frederic B. Emery was not aware of William's whereabouts after leaving Hunterdon Co., New Jersey. The profile mentions children George and John that had been named in prior works by Rev. Van Syckle and in Chambers' Early Germans in New Jersey. The will of William Emry of Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, does mention a son named John, but does not mention a son named George.3,4
