  • U.S. Census records state that Archibald Graham was born in Scotland, but the identity of his parents, and when, and with whom he came to the United States has not yet been discovered. He first appears in Chester, Morris Co., New Jersey on 6 Jun 1830, when the census was taken there (unfortunately the 1810 and 1820 census records for New Jersey have been lost or destroyed and so can not be consulted). At this time he was married, and not long after, he and his family moved to Fayette, Seneca Co., New York, where his eight month old son, Edward, was buried in December of 1830.
  • Archibald D. Graham appeared on the census on 1 June 1830 at Chester, Morris Co., New Jersey, "Archld D. Graham," with a family of 2 white males 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 20-30, 1 male 30-40, 3 females under five, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 30-40.4
