  • He appeared on the census in 1820 at Center, Greene Co., Pennsylvania, with a household of 2 males under 10, 2 males 10-15, 1 male over 45, 2 females under 10, 1 female 26-44.5
  • Administration of Peter Hendershot's estate was granted on 24 October 1827, to Thomas Hendershott, after renunciation of the widow. Bondsmen: John Brewer and Samuel Harvey.3
  • Alfred E. Hendershot in his 1961 Hendershot Genealogy, page 12, clearly confuses Peter Hendershot of Greene Co., Pennsylvania, with a Peter Hendershot who died in Sussex Co., New Jersey in November 1737. The family described by A. E. Hendershot requires more complete research.6
  • Peter Hendershot and Peter Hendershot, are confused and combined into one individual by Alfred E. Hendershot in his 1961 Hendershot Genealogy (page 12). It is clear from his will that Peter Hendershot (1770-1837) of Sussex Co., New Jersey and his wife, Sophia Elizabeth, did not have any children. However, Alfred E. Hendershot assigns the children of Peter Hendershot (d. 1827) of Greene Co., Pennsylvania, to the former. They are clearly two separate men, and apparently Alfred E. Hendershot was unaware of both the will of Peter Hendershot of Sussex Co., New Jersey (1837) and the administration proceedings regarding Peter Hendershot of Greene Co., Pennsylvania (1827).
