- "Nazareth Hill the son of Benjamin (Thomas) Hill, was born in the State of New York, the fifth day of December 1752. He grew to manhood in New York State. He learned the weaver's trade. Afterwards he settled on one hundred acres of land in New Haven, Connecticut. He afterwards married Captain Edward's daughter, Catherine, at New York, 1776. Catherine Hill, my grandmother, told me with her own lips that she spun silk." Their children were born in New Haven, Connecticut.3
- At the time of the Revolutionary War, Nazareth Hill took up arms against the Americans. He had his land confiscated and moved his family to Marysburg (in southern Ontario), Canada. There he took up 300 acres of land which he gave to his sons Robert, David and George. Nazareth continued as a weaver. After the war he returned to New Haven and his property was returned to him. He leased it to his brother Benjamin and returned to Marysburg. The four youngest children were born at Marysburg.4
