States that Sarah Hegeman married Abraham Losee, son of Abraham Losee and Anna Dorland, which appears to be incorrect. She most likely married Abraham Losee, son of Louwrens Losee and Rachel de Lange. This correction can be found in Settlers of the Beekman Patent, vol. 8, p. 248 (Jim Hamstra, e-mail Sept. 22, 2014). • Cornelis emigrated to New Amsterdam in 1651 with his father, as stated when he took the oath of allegiance at Bushwick in 1687, also stating that he had been in this country for 36 years. He would have been a minor in 1660 as his name does not appear on the list of twenty-two patentees of the new settlement of Boswick. In 1663 he is listed as a private in the militia at Boswick. He is on the Bushwick charter, granted in Feb 1687 by Gov. Dongan as Cornelis "Johnson", and his called a freeholder. He appears as Cornelis Jansen on the tax lists at Bushwick in 1676 and 1676. In 1683 he appears on the tax list, with eight acres, as Cornelis Jansen Loy, and when he took the oath of allegiance in 1687 he was called Cornelis Loyse. He also continued to use the name Seeuw, and its variants as late as 1691.6
  • Cornelis Janszen Losee appeared on the census in 1698 at Bushwick, Long Island, as Cornelis Looyse, with his wife, an adult son, and apparently six other children.2
  • He witnessed the baptism of Grietje Losee , daughter of Jan Losee and Marytje Koeck, on 13 October 1703 at Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York, (witnesses: Cornelis Loyse, Margrietie Flasbeek).4

  • Seversmith states that Cornelis married second, under a bann of 1704, Margaret Van Nostrand. He also states that Cornelis was among those soldiers who were in the Albany expedition (listed 13 Mar 1689) departed 12 Apr 1689.2
