The Turtle Bay farm and New Jersey property were inherited by his mother, may have come into Cornelius's possession, although in 1750, sons of his brother Jan settled at New Jersey at or near where his mother's property would have been.²

• Jan and his family lived at Kijkuik Farm. His wife, Elizabeth Praa, inherited considerable lands in Bushwick, much of which would become the northern portion of the town, later known as Greenpoint. Jan bought an additional 80 acres from his father-in-law, Peter Praa in 1727 (part of the lands Peter Praa had purchased of the grandsons of Dirck Volkertsen in 1718/19). Jan Meserole became the largest land owner in Bushwick.³
• His will was dated on 5 February 1756 proved 24 Dec 1756, names his ten children in order, and his wife Elizabeth, deceased. Executors were Frans Titus, Volkert Volkertsen, and Abraham Schenck. Witnessed by Abraham Liquire, Abraham Chussoner (Verschuur), and Abraham Van der Voort.³

• Jan Meserole was living in Manheim, Germany, when in 1663, he immigrated with his wife and an infant son to New Amsterdam, sailing on the ship Spotted Crow. Jan and his wife became members of the Dutch Church in Brooklyn on 25 Dec 1663 with letters from Manheim. He bought a farm in New Utrecht in 1667, then removed to a farm in Bushwick with frontage on the East River. The property was known as Kijkuit Farm and contained about 128 acres (1683 rate list at Bushwick). It is recorded in 1706 as containing 170 acres of improved land then in a fence.¹

To his sons John and Cornelius he leaves land at Bushwick (the Kijkuit Farm, which apparently his mother held title to). The sons also received a piece of meadow at Bushwick, about 10 acres. He also names his daughters, Margaret Devow, Deborah Cotts, and Jane Miserole.¹

• Fred H. Metzger received a common school education, and having a talent for vocal music, attended a singing school and received instruction which soon enabled him to teach. When he was old enough he was permitted to work the farm along side his father, being allowed to have for his own whatever he could make of it. He soon learned to graft trees, and developed into what would become a very profitable business. He was employed by farmers and nurseryman in the surrounding area and maintained the business until his father's death when he formed a partnership with his brother George and operated the old homestead, in addition to which they ran a threshing machine and sold farm implements. They were the first to introduce the steam thresher to Seneca County, and they are also credited with selling the first fertilizer in the community. In 1895 he still held 35 acres of land which he operated in connection with selling farm machinery.²
