  • At the October 1772 session of the Hunterdon County, New Jersey Court of Common Pleas, an Elizabeth Rose was indicted for fornication.
    (The case was mentioned in the following court session of May 1773 with the notice, "N.E." No mention is found of the man with whom she is claimed to have had intercourse with, nor of any children who may have been born from the relationship).
    Further research by Marg Bond (July 2011, trip to New Jersey), found the records in the Court of Common Pleas for the case involving Elizabeth Rose. Jacob Quick was named as the father of Elizabeth's illegitimate child. "King vs. Jacob Quick in the case of fornication with Eliz. Rose," October Term Minutes, 1772 (Bk. 12, page 2).4,5
