In the Nov 1818 congressional petition, filed by Mary Brower, maiden name Losier, widow of Abraham Brower, s/o Abraham, s/o Abraham, s/o Adam, she lists the children of Jeremiah Brower, she says that Jeremiah Brower is dead, and he was the brother of her own dead husband Abraham.
I have the 22 pages which are photocopies of the ORIGINAL documents, which the National archives sent to me. The copies are very good, and I studied them last summer.
Mary said that Jeremiah Brower had 7 children, but she only listed the names of 6 children, meaning perhaps one of them was dead prior to Nov 1818 when she filed the petition.
She named the children as follows:
Lawrence Brower
George Brower
Sarah (Brower) Vachter
Charity (Brower) Tidemon
Anna (Brower) Van Cleve (m. Benjamin Van Cleve)
Rebecca (Brower) Shannon (m. John Shannon)". Hereinafter cited as "L. Martin e-mail 1-8-2007."

- The obituary of Louvisa (Shannon) Brewer appeared in a local South Dakota newspaper; Mrs. S.W. Brewer - Louvisa Adeline Shannon was born in Riverton township, Floyd County, Iowa, on February 14, 1856, and died May 3, 1925, at the age of 69 years, 2 months, and 19 days. She was married January 21, 1874 to Seth W. Brewer. She, her husband, and family came to Dakota Territory May 30, 1883 and settled on the old homestead 11 miles southest of Woonsocket, where they have since resided. To this union eight children were born, three sons and one daughter are still living, Leo E. of Howard, S.D., Casper W., and Mrs. Chas. T. Hutton all of Woonsocket, S.D. The other four all died in infancy. The children were all at home at the time of their mother's death. There are thirteen grandchildren, one brother, and five sisters besides her husband left to mourn her loss. Mrs. Brewer has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for over twenty years having joined at Letcher some years ago. She has lived a consitent Christian life having the love and confidence of all who knew her. She has been a loving wife and mother, and a kind and helpful neighbor, ever ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. She will be long remembered by her friends and neighbors for her kindly ways and loving deeds. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Woonsocket. The services were conducted by the Rev. A.W. Thurston. A large number of friends and neighbors were in attendance and accompanied the relatives to the burial place in Eventide Cemetery where the body was laid to rest. Friend after friend departs; Who hath not lost a friend? There is no union here of hearts, That hath not here an end: Where this frail world our final rest, Living or dying none were blest.2

Alexander Shapleigh1,2
b. before 1580, d. before 6 July 1650
- Alexander Shapleigh was born before 1580.
- He married first before 1600 a wife (name unknown).3
- Alexander Shapleigh married second at St. Saviour's, Dartmouth, England, on 12 December 1602 Jane Egbere.3
- Alexander Shapleigh died before 6 July 1650.3
- Of Kingsweare, Devonshire, England and Kittery, Maine, gentleman, merchant.3
- Alexander Shapleigh was a merchant and ship owner with an interest in the early settlements in Maine and New Hampshire, where there was a market for the goods that he shipped from England. He was an agent for Sir Fernando Gorges, and he may have visited the area at an early date. His interests in Kittery were looked over by his son-in-law James Treworgye, and son Nicholas Shapleigh. Alexander spent most of his time in England, although he was at Kittery in person on 26 May 1642, when he signed his entire estate over to his son-in-law James Treworgye (by record James Treworgye deeded this same property to Nicholas Shapleigh on 2 April 1641). In 1635 Alexander Shapleigh purchased, through his son, a large tract of land extending from the Piscataqua River halfway to York River. In 1638 he added 500 acres at Kittery Point. In Oct. 1650 a statement was made that "the house where Mr. Wm. Hilton now dwelleth at the River's mouth was the first house built there, and was where Mr. Shapleigh's father first built and Mr. Shapleigh now intends to rebuild and enlarge." In 1679 John White deposed that about 42 years before Mr. Alexander Shapleigh and Mr. James Treworgye agreed with the neighbors dwelling at and about Sturgeon Creek. By a deposition of Elizabeth Trickey, it is made to appear that he died at Kittery not long before 6 Jul 1650, when the question to whom the estate belonged was brought before Godfrey, who ruled that Mrs. Treworgye was in no ways possessed of the estate or responsible for any of the debts as her father had conveyed everything before he died and no will was proved.4
