Keefer, "Society Acquires Old Dutch Bible", Schenectady County Historical Society Bulletin vol.12 no.2 (Dec 1968): The old Dutch Bible's ownership can be traced back to the early Brouwer and Van Eps families of Schenectady. "The Bible is a large leather bound volume with brass clasps, and was published by Pieter and Jacob Keur at Dordrecht, Netherlands in 1729. The book is in remarkably good condition considering its great age. The first owner was Wilhelmus Brouwer. His great-grandaughter Annie Brower Major (Mrs. Hugh B.) presented the family treasure to the Amsterdam Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1927. It remained in their collection at Guy Park Manor, Amsterdam (NY), until it was sold at auction in 1966. The purchaser was Harold H. McQueen of South Pasadena, California, who has thoughtfully donated the relic to the society." The Bible contains family records, written in Dutch and English.. - Samuel purchased land in Monmouth County in 1785 which was inherited by his son Samuel W. Truax, which was then inherited by Thomas Truax. On 2 April 1832 (Monmouth Co. The burying ground became known as the Truax Burying Ground and later the Palmer & Wood Cemetery.3
- Barbara Carver Smith (1991) states that is is most probable that Philip and Sarah (LaRue) Truax's son Samuel is the Samuel Truax who died 10 March 1792, age 75-4-24, and is buried in the Old Truax Burying Ground. And although she seperated the two, until evidence to the contrary is found, they are shown as one here.2
