"My correspondent had found my publication in the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society library and thanked me very much for making it available - - and proceeded to locate the complete case. She found a summary of the case at the Wake Forest University Law Library: 57 U.S. 247, 16 How 247 (1853). She wrote to the Supreme Court and received basic information on the case and the suggestion to contact the U.S. Court for Southern District of N.Y. for supporting evidence. Eventually she received 91 pages from the file. The suit commenced in 1850 and went on to the Supreme Court in 1853. So much for some background. I do not have the 91 pages of evidence but my correspondent did provide some abstracted data, most of which pertains to the family and descendants of Hannah Brouwer, b. 1730, Tuckahoe, NY. d. 1822, mar. ca. 1749, Edmund Turner, b. ca. 1728, d. 1805.
