  • He first resided at New Utrecht, Long Island and moved to Staten Island before the 1698 census was taken. He settled in Bucks County, Pennsylvania by 23 May 1706, when he purchased 300 acres in Middletown from Henry Paulus. Stoffel and his wife were original members of the "Sammeny" Church at Bensalem, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. he was Deacon in 1710, and Elder in 1730. He served as Justice of the Peace for Bucks County 1715-1727, and was elected to the Pennsylvania Colonial Assembly in 1710, 1712, 1714 and 1719.9
