The property, a house and garden spot situate in the town of Flatlands in Kings County, was described as "bounded on the north by the highway, south and east by the heirs of Gerrit Coerten deceased, and west by Hermanus Hoogelandt, containing two acres be it more or less." On 18 July 1717 Rutgert Waldron of New York City, and his wife Cornelia, sold the property to Josiah Drake of Oyster Bay in Queens County for £85. Next, by an indenture dated 28 Aug 1716, the same Rutger Waldron and his wife Cornelia, sold this property to John Drake of Jamaica in Queens County for £85. This deed, which pre-dates the prior deed by almost a year, was not recorded until 9 June 1720. Finally, by an indenture dated 12 April 1719, Josias Drake of Flatlands, conveyed this property to John Drake of Jamaica for the same £85. By this deed, Josias signed his name as Ijoseijas Drake. It is not certain wether the Josiah/Josias Drake mentioned in these deeds is father or son.6
  • His will was dated on 14 June 1720 proved 3 Nov 1720. Rutgert Waldron of New York, turner. I leave to my wife Cornelia £100. I leave to each of my seven children, to wit, Daniel, Samuel, Richard, Johannes, Sarah and Cornelia Waldron, and Ann Holsaert, 20 shillings. I leave to my son Samuel two iron vises, to be delivered to him at the expiration of his apprenticeship. I leave to my son Daniel all the rest of my working tools when of age, provided he continues to live with my wife Cornelia and assist her in bringing up my younger children. Otherwise he is to pay her £30. I also give to my wife my Large Dutch Bible. I leave all the rest of my goods to my wife to enable her to bring up the children, and she is to take care that they are brought up and instructed in the Holy Evangelical Religion. I make my loving friends, Mr. Harmanus Rutgers, Mr. Philip Van Cortlandt, and Mr. John Nicholls trustees of my estate, and I make my wife executor.     child, Hester, who married Samuel Walgrove at the Trinity Church on 23 Jun
    1784. She then married John Mildeberger, son of Johann Adam Mildeberger
    and Anne Elizabeth Pinder, for her 2d husband on 22 Jun 1763 at Christ
    Lutheran Church in New York City. The New York Presbyterian Church records
    indicates that Sarah died 28 Feb 1803 and that John died 9 Nov 1798. John
    and Sarah had at least four children: (1) Elizabeth, m. Hartess Heron; (2)
    Catharine, m. 7 Apr 1795, New York City, Myndert Marselis; (3) John A., m.
    Ann De Witt; and (4) Sarah, bp. Tarrytown Mar 1773, d. 27 Jun 1865, m. 7 Apr
    1800, James Fisher. I have corresponded with a descendant of this Sarah

    marriage but by virtue of a child "Hester" being born to Hester Brower and
