(Her Waters surname is suggested by a descendant, although she has not been placed in a Waters family. The Waters family of Wayne Co., New York did not originate in New Jersey, as did Elizabeth's husband, John Brewer. Since the couple was first in New Jersey it is likely that Elizabeth was also originally from New Jersey, and therefore her maiden name may not be Waters. As a son was named "Britton Brewer," and as the Britton family was large and prominent in New Jersey at the time John and Elizabeth were there, it is possible that Elizabeth is a member of the Britton family).
