  • In June and July 1775, William Willsie signed the association test at Poughkeepsie and was a private in the 1st Regt. of the New York Line, commanded by Col. Goose Van Schaick. William was a farmer and continued to live in Poughkeepsie until the close of the Revolution. He then moved to Odelltown, in the Province of Quebec, Canada, taking his family with him. He had gone there from Nine Partners, New York in about 1790. William and his six sons took up land in the township of Hemmingford, where they each had two hundred acres. When he applied for land he was apportioned Lot 168 in the 4th Range of Hemmingford, and is found there in a survey of the township which was completed between 1792 and 1794. His sons all had lots in close proximity, while daughters Sarah and Rebecca, both married to Mannings, also were in Hemmingford. He spent his later days in the household of his daughter Rebecca Manning.3

  • Hendrick Willson purchased a very large tract of land west of the Millstone River. Snell, in History of Hunterdon & Somerset Counties (p.779) states that Hendrick Wilson of Long Island bought a large tract north of the new Amwell road in the second quarter of the last century (1700s). This tract was the southern part of the Volkertse Tract (Volkerse was an associate of Michael Van Vechte) and lay apparently directly north of the present town of Millstone, west of the Millstone River, and between it and Royce's Brook.5
  • His will was dated on 19 June 1750 proved 23 Jan 1764. Hendrick Willson, farmer of Somerset County, New Jersey. Wife Annatje to receive one third of the movable estate, and she and the children that live with her on the plantation are to have the profits thereof, till son Petrus is 21. Then the place is to be divided among the four sons and one daughter, Mindert, eldest, John second eldest, Hendrick and Petrus, and daughter Annatje Willson. Witnesses: Burgon Brocaw, Isaac Brocaw & Wilhelmus Speeder. Executors: his wife and cousin John Brokaw, and friend Peter Stryker.5
