He was in New Rochelle before 1691, in which year he is found charging Louis Bongrand with a breach of the peace. He purchased the land of Andre Thauvet south of the Boston Road and adjacent to the line of Pelham. Later he sold it to Pierre Villeponteaux before 1701. He signed the oath of allegiance in New York City in May 1696. He was granted letters of Denization with other New Rochelle Hugeunots, February 6, 1696. After the year 1694, he married Catherine Lasty, daughter of Jacques Lasty of St. Christopher, and widow of Bartholomew Mercier. His name was given to the easterly promontory of the present Davenport Neck as early as 1703, viz. Bonnefoy's Point, now called Hudson Park. He was a house carpenter and removed to Staten Island before 1711, when he purchased land there.1
