  • The obituary of Casper William Brewer: Casper William Brewer was born January 21, 1878, at Nashua, Iowa, to Louvica Shannon and Seth Brewer. He passed from this life on May 24, 1973, at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 3 days. In 1883 he came with his parents to Letcher on an emigrant train, and they homesteaded 2 miles north and 7&1/2 miles west of town. He lived in this vicinity all of his life except for 17 years in the Temvik and Linton, North Dakota area. In 1909 he was married to Otellia Sommerseth at Linton, (North Dakota) and they adopted 3 children: Rudolph, who died in infancy, Robert and Hilder. In 1924 they returned to Letcher. In 1939 a niece and 4 nephews came to live with them.
    From 1958 until 1970, when he became a resident of Friendship Manor in Woonsocket, he made his home with his dayghter, Mrs. Lloyd S. Johnson.
    He was confirmed at Trinity Luthern Church in 1937, and was active in both his church and community, holding various offices in both.
    Casper was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1948, one son, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include a son, Robert, of Harbor City, Calif; Mrs. Lloyd S. (Hilder) Johnson, of Woonsocket; 8 grandchildren; 4 greatgrandchildren; a brother Rudy Brewer, of Letcher; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Blanche) Hutton, of Pharr, Texas; a niece, Mrs. Elsie Laufenberg, of Madison, Wisconsin; 4 nephews, William and Edwin Jensen, of Madison, Wisconsin, and Arthur and Ingval Jensen, of letcher, whom he raised; and other nieces and nephews.7
  • The three children of Casper and Otellia (Somerseth) Brewer were adopted. They should not be considered descendants of Adam Brouwer.8
