Henry or Henrich Brewer/Brauer was born ca. 1735 and died 18 February 1799. He lived in Bedford Co., Pennsylvania. A descendant has participated in the Brewer DNA Project and the results of his Y-DNA testing demonstrate that he (and therefore all of his direct male Brewer ancestors, including Henry) are not related to any other Brewers that have thus far been tested (that is, within a meaningful genealogical time frame of less then say 400 years). Henry and his descendants belong to the Haplogroup R1b1a2.
The Y-DNA test results refute the claim by Edward Denton Brewer in House of Brewer (1947) that Henry is a son of George Brewer and Sarah Lanier. Many descendants of George Brewer have participated in the Brewer DNA Project and the descendant of Henry Brewer matches none of them. It is also evident that Henry and his descendants are not descended from either Jan Brouwer of Flatlands or Adam Brouwer, both of who have numerous descendants found in the very same general locations where Henry Brewer has descendants. There still remains the possibility that Henry is a grandson of Hubert Brower whose sons are found in Chester Co., Pennsylvania. A confirmed descendant of Hubert Brower is needed to participate in the Brewer DNA Project for us to confirm or reject this possibility.
Henry Brewer's descendants are numerous. They are largely found, through the 1800s, in Monongalia Co., Virginia/West Virginia and especially in Darke County, Ohio. The majority of, if not all, of the Brewers found in Darke Co., Ohio are descendants of Henry.
