In the name of God Amen
I Christopher Sanders of the County of Bladen and Province of North Carolina being very sick and weak in body or imperfect health of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God. Calling unto mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body to & recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God.
And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First-That all my lawful debts be paid out of my estate also I give and bequeath to my well beloved Wife Sarah Sanders third part of my estate.
Item-I will also that all my lands be equally divided between my two sons Thomas Sanders and Christopher Sanders
Item-I give and bequeath to my son Thomas two cows
Item-I give and bequeath to my son Christopher Sanders two cows
Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Sanders two cows
Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Amelia Sanders two cows
Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Elvira Sanders one heifer
Item-I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Sanders two cows
Item-I will also that my two sons Thomas Sanders and Christopher Sanders each to have one breeding mare.
Likewise I ordain this my last will and testament that my wife Sarah Sanders and John Baldwin Junr* Executor of this my last will and testament do hereby set my hand and seal this 27th day of April in the year of our Lord 1778.
