This Indenture made June 22nd A D 1795 By & between Thomas Browder of Bladen County in the State of North Carolina of the one part & Jonathan Meares of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the aforesaid Thomas Browder for in consideration of the sum of 140 pounds current money of North Carolina to him in hand paid before the ensealing & delivery hereof by the aforesaid Jonathan Meares the receipt whereof he the aforesaid Thomas Browder doth hereby acknowledge himself to be therewith fully satisfied contented & paid & every part & parcel thereof hath given granted bargained sold & conveyed & confirmed & by these presents doth hereby fully & freely give grant bargain sell convey & confirm unto the aforesaid Jonathan Meares his heirs & afsigns forever one piece or parcel of land lying & being in the aforesaid County of Bladen & on the western prong containing by platt 200 acres & is laid down & described & bounded as follows Beginning at a small pine near Barnabas Storms line & running S 15 __ 82 poles to Storms old corner being a Black Jack then S 40 E 40 poles to a small pine in Storms line these S 4 W82 poles to a pine thence N 49 W230 poles to a stake three pines then W 5 E165 poles to a stake then So* 49 & E 195 poles to the Beginning which was surveyed for the aforesaid Thos Browder the 19th day of Novr 1778 & Patent granted him by his excellency Richd* Caswell Esq the 11th of Nor* 1779 all of which will fully appear by the grant thereof & was sold & conveyed to the aforesaid Jonathan Meares to him & to his heirs afsigns forever in as full & ample a manner as the said Thomas Browder by his patent and enjoy To have & to hold the aforesaid bargained & granted 200 acres of land & premises free & clear from all manner of incumbrances whatsoever & the aforesaid Thomas Browder doth hereby covenant & agree to & with the said Jonathan Meares his heirs & afsigns that he the said Meares his heirs afsigns from & after the date of ensealing & delivery of these presents forever hereafter lawfully & peaceably & quietly have hold use possess & enjoy & occupy the aforesaid bargained land & premises as good & perfect inheritance and the aforesaid Thomas Browder for himself his heirs exrs admrs doth hereby further covenant & agree to & with the said Jonathan Meares his heirs & afsigns that he the aforesaid Thomas Browder the aforesaid bargained & lawful claim of any person whatsoever unto him the aforesaid Jonathan Meares his heirs & afsigns or any other person claiming by from or under __ them or by or through his or their or any of their manner or p______ In witness whereof the said Thos* Browder hath hereunto set his hand & seal The day & year first above written Signed sealed & delivered in the presence
