This Indenture made this third day of August A D one thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine Between William Ellis of the State of North Carolina and County of Bladen of the one part and James Cain of the County and State aforesaid of the to her part witnesseth that the said William Ellis for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds Spicie to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and myself therewith fully Satisfied contented and paid hath by these presents given granted Bargained and by these presents doth give grant Bargain and sell alien Enfeoff confirm convey and set over unto the said James Cain his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Bladen on both sides and in the dream? of Diggens Meadow Beginning at a small pine Thomas Everetts corner and runs thence North Sixty Eight Degrees East fifteen chains to a Stake and two pines pointers thence with the same Evarets line North twenty Degs East seven chains and thirty links to an old pine James Cains corner thence along the said Cains line North twenty five chains to a pine thence west fifteen chains to a Stake thence a crop Ellis’s direct to the Beginning it being the land whereon he now lives containing fifty acres reference being had to a patent that Shall hereafter appear To have and to hold the above said premise with all and Singular the hereditaments and all manner of improvements belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said James Cain and afsigns forever and further I do for myself my heirs and afsigns free from the heirs and afsigns or all manner of person or persons do warrant and forever defend the above premises with the thereunto belonging to his or their proper use benefit and Behoof forever
