Bladen County
Know all Men by their presents that I Thomas Brown of the County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid by John Owen of the County and state aforesaid the ________whereof is hereby acknowledgeable, Have granted bargained and sold and by then presents do grant, bargain and sell to the said John Owen his heirs and assigns forever a certain negro girl named Chloe to have and to hold to the said John Owen the said bargained promise to him his heirs and assigns forever.
And the said Thomas Brown for himself his heirs.
Executor & Administrator, the said bargained promises to the said John Owen his heirs and assigns forever, will warrant and forever defend.
Witness my hand & seal this second day of February 1819.
