There is a Joseph Brutton (TT) in the index of "The Book of Plymtree, The Parish and its People" by Tony Eames: shown with date 1750; page 143. Could Joseph have actually be living in Plymtree (home of wife Christian) rather than in Cullompton itself? - rhg
