Major Nicholas Brutton [Parents] was born in 1780. He died on 26 Mar 1843 in Bordeaux, France. He married Rozalie Urignon.
Dict. of National Biography: Lt.-Col., descended from old Devon family of BRUTTON. Entered Army as an ensign in 1795, proceeded to India, served at Battle of Seedasser in 1799, aid to Colonel Hart and led one of storming parties at Seringapatam 4 May 1799 where he was severely wounded. Served through campaign in Canara. Again wounded severely at Bhurtpore. Was present at the seige and capture of the six strongest fortresses in India. Pension of L$100 a year for his wounds. Died in retirement at Bordeaux on 26 Mar 1843. - rhg
