A very good article about copyrights. It
explains that names and dates are not covered under copyright laws.
Neither is anything published in a book such that is not the original work
of the author. HOWEVER, it is only a common courtesy to give credit to
the source/person when using another person's research. AND don't forget
to do your own research. Just because names and dates were found in a
book or on a web page does not mean that the original source is correct.

The Official Federal Land Patent Records Site |
|
This provides access to the Bureau of Land
Management's General Land Office records. Site includes a database with access
to Federal Land Conveyance records for the Public Land sites issued between 1820
and 1908. I found land records for Reddick and Terrell Bryan in LA beginning in
1839 and records for other families as well.
