Dehl's AncestryI attempt to accurately reflect my ancestry
but sometimes mistakes are made. When there are discrepancies, I always use PERSONAL
information first: i.e. that which was told to me PERSONALLY by a relative. Second,
I use information closest to the date of occurrance. For instance, if a person
was born in the 1870s, an 1880 census is used instead of a 1920 census. Last,
always remember that people will change facts over time. A very common change
is to switch first and second names so that Edgar Eugene will later be known
as Eugene Edgar. Also, people often would spell their names "phoenetically."
Example: "Hinson" may later be "Henson." I will pick the
one most often used or the one that is considered "correct" today.
