The following information has been transcribed from the Parish Records fiche purchased from the Hampshire Record Office which is subject to copywrite. On Lady Day every second year the yearly rent from Bishops Langs Estate was paid by the Rector of the Day, to be used for apprenticing a deserving Buriton young person in a trade. The other year it was to be paid for a Petersfield Boy. The following list is of the persons who were recipients of this endowment in Buriton.

10th July 1734, �5. 10. 0. was paid for apprenticing JOHN MARMAN to RICHARD LAWRENCE, a Mason of Winchester.

20th Sep 1736, �5. 10. 0. was paid for Apprenticing WILLIAM SHYER to WILLIAM COX, a Wheelwright of Petersfield.

22nd Aug 1738, �5. 10. 0. was paid for apprenticing JOHN POWELL to JOSEPH POWELL, a Taylor of Buriton.

10th Sep 1740, �5. 5. 0. was paid for apprenticing NICHOLAS STONE, son of RICHARD STONE to WILLIAM SMITH a Taylor of Chalton.

5th May 1742, �5. 0. 0. was paid for apprenticing JAMES CHEELE to MATTHEW MADDOCKS a Ship Carpenter of Kingston.

20th July 1744, �5. 0. 0. was paid for apprenticing RICHARD MARMAN, son of Widow MARMAN to JOHN MARMAN, Mason & Bricklayer.

10th Sep 1746, �4. 19. 0. was paid for apprenticing JAMES POWELL to his Father JAMES POWELL a Taylor.

1748. �5. 0. 0. was paid for apprenticing ??? ANSELL of Buriton to THOMAS HOUNSHAM a Blacksmith of Hayling.

MEMORANDUM: Rents for the years 1750 and 1751, amount of �10. 13. 4. were expended in repairs of the Barn, by Order of Mr. BILSON, The Trustees.
