| Cornelius was the 11th child of Cornelius and Nancy Burnett. He was born in Kentucky and later moved to Kansas with his family and then on to Carroll Co., Arkansas where he married Telitha Dora Jackson, to this union one son was born, Rufus Bert Burnett. Later Cornelius moved to Indian Territory where he marred Ida Rachell Pressgrove(1869-1941, dau. of Zilman and Martha J. Pressgrove) in Stonewall, Oklahoma. To Cornelius and Ida six children were born, two dying young, Brice and Cornelius, and they are buried at Hart Cemetery, Pontotoc Co. Oklahoma, other children were Joseph D., Robert F. m. Hattie Tipton, Etta May m. Ollie Robertson, William S. m. Clara Allen. My great grandfather, William, lived with Cornelius in his later years and Cornelius was the adminstrator of William's estate. Cornelius and Ida are both buried at the Old Clayton cemetery in Pushmataha Co. Oklahoma. |
