Jerseytown School
Jerseytown School, Reily Township
(Bunker Hill School)

"Across from the Welliver home stood one of the earliest schools in Reily township, a log structure which from 1852 until 1857 was also used as a meeting place for the Bunker Hill Universalist Church.  Later in 1857, Elijah Ross, contractor, built a new church building up on the hill overlooking Indian Creek, on the property of Alexander Deneen, and it is here that the old burying ground still stands, the church having burned several years ago.

The second Bunker Hill school was a frame structure built up the Woods Station road from Bunker Hill, and when this structure was sold in order that a brick one-room school might be built, it was moved across the road and now serves as part of the home occupied by Mrs. Conrad's son Charles and his family.  The red brick school, too, has long since ceased to be, and now is but a facade, the brick to the rear having crumbled or been given away."
