The school building was constrcuted in 1877 and in use until 1949.

The first knowledge of a school building in the district now known as Stockton Special was the building which occupied the site where now stands the home of Dick Reed.  Later a brick building was erected on land given by Dr. S.R.S. Reed.  The present school ground is this same property.

The first building stood well back in the yard.  This building was a large brick one some 70 feet long by 30 to 40 feet wide. In 1877 the present building was constructed.  At the time of its erection, it was probably the best school building in the township and for years was a community center for the neighborhood. . .
