The Little Hand

(Sample of the innocent poetry floating around the weapons platoon of Co. C these days, and dedicated to Sgt. Ira Bradford, past-master of holding "hands.")

Last night I held a little hand
so dainty and so sweet,
I thought my heart would surely break
So wildly did it beat.
No other hand in all the world
could greater solace bring
Than the little hand I held last night --
Four Aces and a King.
