No Nerves

When 'A' Co. 's 1st platoon bedded down for the night after a hard days' fighting in and around Dessau, they chose a small building on the edge of town for their sleeping quarters. Pfc. Rufus Case had only one blanket but with the doors closed he was fairly warm.

After a German artillery barrage knocked in their front door, Case complained bitterly over the subtle accuracy of the enemy shells, but went back to sleep. When another Kraut shelling destroyed the back door, the roof might as well have been taken also because, Case just about hit it. Incidently most of the houses along the street were destroyed. --
