He was educated at Leeds & Maidenhead / in the architectural department of the Office of Works.

During World War I, he served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 1st Battalion King's (Liverpool Regiment).

He died 16th May 1915 (aged 26).

He was buried at the Guards' Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy, France [VIII G 14].

In 1871, he married Emma Townley [1850-1???] from Nantwich, Cheshire, in Nantwich.

He was a worsted bobbin setter [1901] / a mechanic for machine tool maker [1911] / a fitter with Farrar's of Winding Road, Halifax.

He lived at 72 St Peter's Street, Halifax.

During World War I, he enlisted [August 1914], and served as a Private with the 8th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment).

He was killed at Langemarck by a shell which burst beside him as he and an officer were going to another post [11th August 1917] (aged 28).

He is remembered on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium [20] on the Memorial at Halifax Town Hall Books of Remembrance, and on the Roll of Honour at an unidentified United Methodist Church

[1828-1919] Born in Halifax [8th November 1828].

She was housekeeper for Henry Martin and his wife Maria at 9 Bedford Terrace, Halifax [from at least 1851].

She continued to live at Bedford Terrace after Maria died [1881].

She died 3rd November 1919.

Probate records show that she left effects valued at £3,536 19/5d.

Probate was granted to Joe Gomersall (printer).

She was buried at Lister Lane Cemetery [Plot Number 816] with the Martin family

[1???-1630] On 28th August 1630, he and Mrs Ettall were executed on the Gibbet.

Watson's extract from the Register Books at Halifax records the execution as

Henry Hudson. Uxor Samuel Ettall ob plurima furta decollati

Henry Hudson [and] the wife of Samuel Ettall beheaded on account of very many crimes

Hudson, James
[18??-18??] Aka Pope Hudson.

Born in York. He moved to the Todmorden area by 1841.

Around 1845, he organised an anti-religious group. Their meetings mocked formal religious services. Many of his followers – known as Hudsonites – came from the Shade, Gauxholme and Knowlwood districts of Todmorden. They held their annual meetings on Spaw Sunday at the Basin Stone, Todmorden. They supported the Chartists and worn green coats to show this.

Born 2nd June 1750.

An obituary in the Methodist Magazine [1839] recorded that, in 1784, she went

to hear a pious Church of England Minister Rev Bineberry Collins preach at Halifax Methodist Chapel

For many years, she lived with a friend, Miss Watson.

She died 30th March 1837

He was educated at Queen's College Cambridge [1768] / Vicar of Bolsterstone, Sheffield and Vicar of Cockerham, Lancaster / Lecturer at Halifax Parish Church for 65 years [from 1770] / Headmaster of Heath Grammar School [1771-1782] / Master of Hipperholme Grammar School for 53 years [1782-1835].

He married Unknown.

  2. Martha [Halifax 1782-8th June 1830] who never married, died in Hipperholme and is buried with her father at Coley
  3. Hannah

He was buried at Coley Church.
