In 1805, Captain William Ingram, Commandant of the Halifax Volunteer Troop of Cavalry, was the subject of a Court of Inquiry after 5 charges had been made that he had converted to his own use money belonging to the Troop.
The Court of Enquiry was held at Leeds on 10th and 11th October 1805. Ingram was acquitted and the Major-Commandant ordered that the names of all those who had made the charges be struck off the roll as being unworthy of the honour of being members of the volunteer corps. These included
