When his father died [1910], Frederick Norman took over the family tailoring business and moved it to Bull Close Lane, Halifax.

In 1912, he married Sarah F Birkenhead in Halifax.

They lived at 67 New Park Road, Salford.

During World War I, he served as a Private with the 906th Mechanical Transport Company Army Service Corps.

He was lost [4th May 1917] (aged 30)  when the troopship Transylvania, in which he was travelling, was torpedoed by German Submarine U-63 and sank 3 miles off the Italian coast in the Gulf of Genoa, with the loss of 42 lives.

He is remembered on the Savona Memorial, Italy.

In [Q2] 1922, Sarah Frances married Mr Parr in Barton upon Irwell.

Whereas, I, James Wright bar-keeper at Kirklees Bar in the township of Hartshead-cum-Clifton, did, on Saturday evening the 14th day of September instant about 9 o'clock, without any just cause, assault Mr George Ibbotson, of the township of Hartshead-cum-Clifton, solicitor, by seizing hold of his horse's bridle, and stopping him upon the public highway, near Kirklees Bar, in breach of the King's Peace, for which a prosecution has been commenced against me, but in consequence of my publicly acknowledging the offence in The Leeds Mercury and The Leeds Intelligencer, and paying the costs thereof, and all the costs incident to such prosecution, the same hath been discontinued. Now I do hereby acknowledge my sincere contrition for the offence, and thank the aforesaid George Ibbotson for his lenity, and promise never to do the like again. Witness my hand this [date]

In 1871, he and John Haigh Fuller, who were the executors of John Haigh, leased Savile Hall, Halifax to John Lewis.

He preached at Lightcliffe. He preached in private houses. In 1715, he established a Nonconformist society at Hove Edge. The Lightcliffe and Hove Edge groups discontinued after his death

He was educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Blackburn & St John's College Cambridge. He was Usher at Blackburn Grammar School [1727-1731].

Like fellow-antiquarian, Watson, he was Curate at Halifax [1732] and Curate at Ripponden [1750-1754].

In 1738, he wrote a history of Halifax, The Antiquities of the Town of Halifax in Yorkshire.

On 23rd July 1730, he married (1) Grace Houworthand [17??-1741].

On 10th August 1742, he married (2) Grace Hartley.

He was buried at St Bartholomew's Church, Ripponden.

In 1864, his grandson, Thomas Wright, edited his grandfather's autobiography
