day of September instant about 9 o'clock, without any just cause,
assault Mr George Ibbotson, of the township of
Hartshead-cum-Clifton, solicitor, by seizing hold of his horse's
bridle, and stopping him upon the public highway, near Kirklees Bar,
in breach of the King's Peace, for which a prosecution has been
commenced against me, but in consequence of my publicly acknowledging
the offence in The Leeds Mercury and The Leeds Intelligencer, and
paying the costs thereof, and all the costs incident to such
prosecution, the same hath been discontinued.
Now I do hereby acknowledge my sincere contrition for the offence,
and thank the aforesaid George Ibbotson for his lenity, and
promise never to do the like again.
