Daniel Jones Crossley

[1824-1907]


Daniel Jones Crossley was the son of Henry Crossley of Hebden Bridge.

He was educated at Littlewood's School, Rochdale.

Around 1863, he set up business as a cotton manufacturer, D. J. Crossley & Sons.

On 13th May 1858, he married Hannah, daughter of John Riley, at St Michael's Church, Mytholmroyd.

The family lived at White Lee House, Mytholmroyd [1861]; Fallingroyd House, Hebden Bridge [1897].

He was

On a journey to the USA, he was one of a group of travellers aboard a boat which capsized at Panama. One of the party lost a leg after being attacked by a shark or alligator.

For the last 7 years of his life, illness prevented him leading an active life

He lived at Fallingroyd, Hebden Bridge [1896]
