Coal discovered at Ford Hill, Queensbury, after two
years' sinking. Coal pit at Bradshaw closed
- Saturday, 27th January 1900:
Upper Mill, Cragg Vale, destroyed by fire. Damage
estimated at £5,000
- Friday, 2nd February 1900:
Fred Gee, aged 15, caught in machinery at Longbottom
Mills, Luddendenfoot, and killed instantly
- Wednesday, 21st February 1900:
Death of Margaret Ryan, aged 97, Matriarch of the
Halifax Workhouse
- Monday, 5th March 1900:
Fire at Danny Lane Mill, Luddendenfoot, caused
£7,000 worth of damage
- Monday, 16th April 1900:
Opening of a new Conservative Club at Ripponden, built
at a cost of £3,500
- Thursday, 31st May 1900:
Cutting of the first sod of the Todmorden new waterworks
- Saturday, 23rd June 1900:
Opening of Brighouse sewage works by the Mayor,

Crossley receives 4,000 guests

Union Mills, Halifax, destroyed by fire. Damage

Convict Joseph Varley of Mixenden released from Portland
Prison after serving seven years in prison for rape

Electric lighting scheme adopted by the Brighouse
Town Council

Local Government Board Inquiry at Queensbury into the
