Sir Alan Cobham brought his flying circus to Clifton, Brighouse, in
1934 and 1935

Infirmary Gala Queen – One of the highlights of the social calendar
each year was the Royal Halifax Infirmary gala, when money was
raised towards the running costs of the hospital. Pictured is the
1934 Infirmary Queen and her retinue

Best Band in the Land – Brighouse and Rastrick Band enjoyed a
remarkable run of success, winning the prestigious Belle Vue
championships in 1929 and again in 1932, 33 and 34. In the six years
between 1928 and 1934 the band won trophies and cash prizes worth
more than £10,000
