Miss Sommers and Mr. Petrie Wed at Forest Jct. Rites
Forest Junction – Miss Annabelle Marie Sommers, daughter of Michael Sommers, Forest Junction and Francis
Gregory Petrie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Petrie of Stockbridge were united in marriage last Saturday morning.
The nuptial high mass celebrated by the Rev. J.G. DeVries, at St. Francis church, Hollandtown, took place at 10
o’clock. The organist was Sr. M. Rosalinda. The selections were “Ave Maria,” Panis Angelicus,” and “O Lord, I Am
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Miss Geraldine Sommers of Chilton. Three other attendants were
Miss Kathleen Petrie of Cudahy, sister of the bridegroom, and Misses Marilyn Kolbak and Jean Reese of Wood, friends
of the bride.
Harold Hoffman of Chilton was best man, with Donald Sommers of Forest Junction, brother of the bride, and Alvin
Schumacher of Menasha, a cousin of the groom and Lloyd Novitske of Oshkosh, a friend, serving as ushers.
The bride’s dress was of marquisette and lace. The yoke was of marquisette and fitted lace bodice and shirred
marquisette cummerbund. A full skirt was also of Marquisette panels of lace. Her gauntlets were of lace and her
illusion veil was edged with Chantilly lace. Her single strand of pearls and pearl earrings were gifts of the
groom. Her bouquet was of white orchids on a white prayer book.
The bride’s attendants were dressed alike in white eyelet dresses of colonial fashion with berthas and full-shirred
backs over forest green taffeta slips. They wore eyelet bonnets and gauntlets to match and their only jewelry
consisted of a single strand of pearls. Their flowers were mixed colonial bouquets tied with forest green
The groom and his attendant were attired in white formal jackets and black trousers.
Immediate relatives, numbering about 25, dined with the wedding party at the Conway hotel, Appleton, at noon and
about 200 guests were entertained at a reception from 2 to 5 o’clock at the hotel in the afternoon.
The couple left on a two-week trip to Yellowstone National Park and will be at home after July 4 at Port Edwards,
where Mr. Petrie is a high school instructor. He is a graduate of Oshkosh State Teachers College. His bride is a
graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Oshkosh, and was employed at the Veterans hospital, at Wood.
